Sen. Kirk tours BNSF rail yard

GALESBURG - After seeing the BNSF rail yard firsthand Wednesday, U.S. Sen. Mark Kirk vowed to fight against any new federal regulations that could stymie the rail company's growth, even including future expansion at the Galesburg yard site.
Kirk, a first-term Republican senator, met with BNSF officials, as well as community representatives, at the BNSF classification yard for an hour as company executives discussed with him BNSF and its Galesburg operation.
The executives warned Kirk that the government in the future may try to regulate the rail industry's pricing on production, given that the industry's revenues are steadily increasing. Continued
