Railway extension to Point MacKenzie may cost up to $300 million

According to The Frontiersman, the Alaska Railroad rail extension to Point MacKenzie under construction may end up costing $300 million. At an open house last week, Alaska Railroad estimated it needs $180 more from the state to finish the project.
In December, bidders offered estimates to build the first five miles of the extension, with Bristol Construction the low bidder at $17 million. Continued
