Mt. Tamalpais' West Point Inn gets historic status

The West Point Inn, a 108-year-old structure built as a waystation along a railroad that once climbed Mount Tamalpais, has been named to the National Register of Historic Places. The designation recognizes the inn's architecture and role in popularizing hiking on the mountain.
"It's an amazingly preserved vestige of the Wild West," said Fred Runner, a member of a nonprofit group that runs the inn and author of the pictorial guidebook, "Mount Tamalpais Scenic Railway." Continued
