City leaders angry at proposed commuter train cuts

HAVERHILL, MA - You can forget about taking the train to Boston to watch a Celtics or Bruins game during the weekend, if the most recent proposal by the MBTA is approved.
City leaders are angry at the MBTA's plan to eliminate weekend service and make other changes because of the commuter agency's financial problems.
Those leaders said the changes would hurt Haverhill's efforts to draw tourists by train and use the downtown train station as selling point for people considering moving into apartments and condos in the heart of the city. Continued
