Weekend commuter rail service to resume on Dec. 24

BOSTON - The MBTA and Massachusetts Bay Commuter Railroad Company said weekend commuter rail service will be restored on the Old Colony and Greenbush lines for the remainder of winter, beginning on Dec. 24.
Weekend service will remain in place until spring, when track work to replace defective concrete railroad ties will resume that will necessitate further weekend service suspensions until the project is completed.
The project is anticipated to conclude at the end of next summer, at which point schedules for both lines will return to normal. Continued
