Sen. Casey: $15M available for Norfolk Southern expansion

The U.S. Department of Transportation has made a $15 million infrastructure grant available to Pennsylvania to use toward Norfolk Southern Corp.'s Rutherford railyard expansion in Dauphin County, according to U.S. Sen. Bob Casey's office. Virginia-based Norfolk Southern is spending $60.5 million to expand the capacity of its Rutherford intermodal yard in Swatara Township by 50 percent, the company said last week. The company also is applying for a $7 million grant from the state toward the project. The company will pay for the rest of the expansion itself. Continued
