Railroad: Remote control trains reduce employee accidents

The Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad on Tuesday morning confirmed that there will be use of remote control technology after the first of the year, but not in the way that is being discussed with concern in some areas of Sterling.
Andy Williams, director of public affairs for Colorado, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska for BNSF, stated in a phone interview on Tuesday that "the technology would be used once a day, only in the rail yard in Sterling, to move train cars and switch equipment in the yard."
Concerns over the use of remote control locomotive technology in Sterling were brought up during the Logan County Oversight Committee meeting on Monday night. Continued
