New AC-powered diesel locomotive brought Santa's Sled to Bluefield

Railroaders who work in Norfolk Southern's Pocahontas Division were happy to bring their children to see Santa during his recent visit to the NS Mechanical Shops in Bluefield, but many appeared to be equally interested in seeing one of NS's new AC locomotives that brought Santa's sled into the Bluefield yard.
Locomotive supply the power to railroads, and changes - even subtle changes - in the railroading community can attract a lot of attention.
In 1882, when the (then) Norfolk & Western Railway built a single-track mainline through the community that would become Bluefield, steam locomotives ruled the line. Continued
