Creating historic railroad district key

Moving the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway 9005 switch locomotive from Hillcrest Park to the lot in front of the Clovis Depot Model Train Museum is what we hope will be the first step in creating a Historic Railroad District.
The locomotive will continue to belong to the city, the lot it is being displayed on will be part of the HRD, and members of the Clovis Area Train Society along with other members of the public will cosmetically restore the switch engine.
Funds for this endeavor come from a matching grant awarded by the “Friends of MainStreet,” residual funds from the Clovis Centennial Committee specifically designated for use in the movement and restoration of the locomotive, and from donations made to the “9005 Fund” (set up by Clovis MainStreet for the same project).
