State is first in line to rebuy V&S railroad line

DENVER - If the private V&S Railway chooses to abandon the Towner Line after its Dec. 1 purchase and scrap the rails, the state of Colorado is first in line for the option to buy it.
It would would be a pricey proposition, though, and a certain net loss from the $9.4 million V&S is paying to acquire the line.
“It’s up to the General Assembly if they choose to repurchase the line,” said Stacey Stegman, spokeswoman for the Colorado Department of Transportation. Continued
