Ex-cop in train station killing back in court

OAKLAND, Calif. - The former transit police officer convicted of killing an unarmed Oakland man is due back in court to face a federal civil rights lawsuit alleging he roughed up another man in 2009, just weeks before the fatal shooting.
Johannes Mehserle, 29, has been out of the public eye since completing a two-year jail sentence in June for involuntary manslaughter in the fatal shooting of Oscar Grant.
But Mehserle is set to take the witness stand in the civil case brought by a man who claims he was punched and kicked by five Bay Area Rapid Transit officers during a confrontation on Nov. 15, 2008, at the Coliseum/Oakland Airport train station. Continued
