BNSF outlines double-tracking project before Grand Island council

The Grand Island City Council seemed OK Tuesday night with a BNSF railroad agreement aimed at helping the railroad install a second mainline next to the existing elevated rail through Grand Island.
But the council did question the impact the project will have on area school children and the city’s most fragile sewer collector line, which is located near the railroad’s proposed construction site. The discussion was part of a study session meeting on a proposed city utility relocation agreement offered by the railroad. Continued
