$928M pledged for first leg of Calif. bullet train

The Federal Railroad Administration has pledged $928 million in funding for the first leg of California’s high-speed rail network in the Central Valley, according to an announcement made Tuesday.
The California High-Speed Rail Authority said the federal funds would go toward construction of the 130-mile segment between the Fresno and Bakersfield areas. The work is scheduled to start next September. Continued
