August 28, 2011, 5 p.m. - As Tropical Storm Irene continues to move along its path, CSX employees are assessing impacts to the railroad while removing trees from tracks and deploying generators to areas where electrical service is out. There has been flooding in some locations along the network.
With recovery efforts under way, service to customers behind the storm is beginning to resume as conditions allow. CSX continues to coordinate with passenger and commuter agencies to determine safe resumption of those services.
The company's Customer Service Center will be coordinating with shippers and receivers on impacts to their facilities and on temporary changes, as required, in pickup and delivery schedules. Customers should contact the Customer Service Center via ShipCSX's Problem Resolution tool or by calling 1-877-SHIPCSX, prompts 5, then 6.
