Railway wants to expand its track

Congested train traffic in the Uehling area has prompted a Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway Company application to expand about two miles of line southwest of Uehling.
The application to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality is to expand and widen approximately 10,000 feet of single track to double track, also known as siding, from a mile and a half southwest of Uehling to near the County Road E crossing.
The move is intended to increase train capacity, preventing bottlenecks in the area as well as addressing projected increases in train traffic, according to the application. Continued
