Railroad enthusiasts recreate historic Cape Cod train route

For years during the heyday of train travel, the New Haven Railroad's "Day Cape Codder" delivered vacationers from New York to points up and down Cape Cod. The New Haven's service to the Cape made its last trip in 1964. Amtrak's "Cape Codder" briefly revived the service from 1986 to 1996.
On Saturday, May 14, the Massachusetts Bay Railroad Enthusiasts, Inc. (Mass Bay RRE) will recreate, for one day only, that rail travel tradition by covering a portion of the "Day Cape Codder" route with a specially-chartered excursion train from Middleboro to Buzzards Bay and Hyannis, using the Cape Cod Central Railroad's dinner train equipment.
