(Brownsville Herald) Work has begun on the first new railroad bridge to be built between the United States and Mexico in over a century.
The structure will span U.S. 281, Military Highway, about a quarter mile west of New Carmen Road, as part of Cameron County’s West Rail Relocation project to relocate the Union Pacific railroad tracks out of downtown Brownsville and Matamoros.
Construction on the international bridge began Monday and is expected to take 11 months. Continued
